The 3-Rep Trap Bar Deadlift 2022 Open ran from February 16 to 23 and featured athletes competing to complete 3 reps of their maximum weight within 10 seconds without resting at the top or bottom.
The 3-Rep Trap Bar Deadlift event saw dramatic turmoil on the leaderboard and three new Donor Games records, making it the most exciting competition yet!
It was another triumph for the virtually unbeatable Mimi Mahon. She has taken the top podium spot in the women’s donor category in almost every event and she did it again, lifting 370 lbs to beat her personal Donor Games best. Darlene Magsino and Jennifer Small, both Donor Games regulars, joined her on the podium with lifts of 345 and 325 respectively.
The competition in the men’s donor category was intense. On the opening day of the competition, Garet Hil pulled 440 for three reps. Kevin Kilkenny then topped him with a lift of 460. Hil then put up 470, moving back into first place. With two days left, Kilkenny pulled 480, putting himself back on top of the leaderboard. Then, just hours before the deadline, Jason Elmore from Texas, with previous lifts of 445 and 475, crushed it with a lift of 500 to take the event win.
Donor Games newcomer Josh May took first place in the transplant recipient men’s division with 315 lbs, and Samantha Hil took the top slot in the women’s division with 205 lbs.
In the general category, the first-place winners in the men’s and women’s categories both set new Donor Games records. In the men’s category, Shaphen Robinson bested his own Donor Games record of 600 lbs with a staggering 660 lift. In the women’s category, Angela Bognanno obliterated her previous Donor Games record of 385 lbs and took the top podium spot with a 440 lift.
